12-24-24 - Update
Seasons Greetings and welcome.
I hope that whomever is reading this is having a lovely winter holiday season. The holidays, while festive and usually portending a much-needed work break, can come with a host of other challenges. For those that know such things needn’t be explained. Still, best to enjoy the winter weather while it’s here. It doesn’t last long, and soon the days will lengthen, and even the sun will show its face again.
It has been a crazy year and not just because it was an election year. Somehow throughout, I managed to release 3 books, a novel, novella, and short story: Blithe Haven, Seeds of Regret, and a Light Kindled in Darkness. While I’m proud of each of these worthies, they came with a cornucopia of challenges. Inspiration varied in intensity, but it was usually there when I set out to write. The challenge was to find the time. On any given day, I find myself so busy (with a full-time job, parenting a one-year-old, to caring for a cat, and getting sleep) that writing is always a challenge. Still, when I look back on the year, I’m fortunate that I was able to produce even this much work. It may not be ideal, but it’s not insubstantial either.
When looking to next year, I have at least three other titles that I would like to see the light of day. They comprise (in no particular order), Blithe Haven 2: Dark Omens, a Merry House of Madness: A Short Story Collection, and Outside the Paper Castle.
I have no idea what next year will bring, but here’s hoping it’s creative, fulfilling, and interesting in its own way.
Good luck to us all.
-B.R.
